About Us

Few could have imagined back in 1948 when Percy Zupp opened a small garage in Ipswich, that 58 years later it would become a business that now has ten vehicle dealerships, three truck centres, an apparel & merchandise superstore and a parts distribution network employing over 750 Queenslanders and selling over 18,000 new and used cars, trucks and buses each year.
From humble beginnings selling VW's in Ipswich 1948, John Zupp built Queensland's largest privately owned motor group, today celebrating over 58 years in business. Zupps has a proud history and strong connection with the people of South East Queensland, serving the community from several locations at Aspley, Beaudesert, Browns Plains, Burleigh, Burpengary, Cleveland, Coopers Plains, Helensvale, Mt Gravatt, Rocklea, Southport and West Burleigh.
We market and maintain the vehicles from the major franchises, and the very best range of Used Cars all backed with the peace of mind that only comes from a company 58 years strong.
In addition to our strong presence in the passenger vehicle market, Zupps also have extensive experience selling vehicles in the truck market, and have held the major famous Truck Franchises for over 18 years. Two new Truck Centre facilities have recently opened at Burpengary and at Burleigh.
The Zupps Parts Distribution Head Office is located at Coopers Plains, which also houses the famous racing Apparel Superstore. Another parts distribution outlet is located in Townsville. Zupps Parts sell to the local dealer network for many of the major franchises. This unique computerised warehouse is a leader within the industry.
All Zupps Dealerships boast a comprehensive supply of parts and apparel as well as servicing most makes and models of vehicles.
All Zupps service facilities are world class with the most
up-to-date automotive technology available. Equipped with the
very latest factory specific computers and diagnostic equipment, Zupps Service Departments have all the equipment and know how to service the modern motor vehicle to the very highest levels. Customer Service Lounges offer free tea & coffee making facilities, playtime equipment for the kids, business workstations with telephones & fax machines and a selection of videos for free viewing. Free shuttle buses are also available at some locations to take you into the CBD or in and around the local surrounding suburbs.
Why The Elephant?
It was Ipswich Show Day in the 1960’s and someone had the bright idea of an elephant race. Officials sought sponsorship to make it happen. Big John Zupp saw the potential, threw a giant rug with Zupps printed on the sides over his elephant, and joined the
race. Big John liked the result so much
he decided to make it what is now the most recognised logo in the motor industry. The giant elephant is now synonymous with Zupps Motors. History has forgotten where the Zupps elephant finished on that Ipswich Show Day, but it has not forgotten its rider, Mr Bill Hayden, former Governor-General of Australia, and then local member for Ipswich.
